Résumé : Voltaire's satirical novella, 'Candide', follows the naive young protagonist, raised under Dr. Pangloss's optimistic philosophy, believing he lives in 'the best of all possible worlds'. Abruptly expelled from his idyllic home, Candide embarks on a relentless series of harrowing adventures across Europe and South America. The narrative culminates with the group settling on a small farm, where they find a measure of peace and purpose by "cultivating their garden," a practical philosophy that contrasts with abstract debates and suggests hard work and self-sufficiency as the only ways to mitigate life's inherent suffering.
